I was an advocate of getting Henry before last year, and my stance hasn't changed, but jeez, where is all this money coming from? He's a compact and decisive back (5’9”, 215 pounds. for comparison's sake- Clinton Portis is the same height and 205 pounds. Adrian Peterson is 6’2” and weighs in at 218, so he’s actually got a skinnier frame considering it’s the same weight spread over 3 more inches. Also, Henry has spent the last 4 years being in a platoon to one degree or another [first w/ Buffalo, then Tennessee], so he doesn't have as much wear and tear on him as an Ahman Green. Man is this a long parenthetical). Caught the ball well in the only seasons where he really had a chance in Buffalo.

MUCH better option than anyone else on the market, which included Green, Jamal Lewis, Chris Brown, Corey Dillon, and LaMont Jordan. In fact, I think the Broncos should advertise using that fact next year:

"Your 2007 Denver Broncos- At Least It's Not Jamal Lewis."

I guess surrounding Jay Cutler with veteran weapons who, theoretically, should be able to be a steadying influence. So now that only leaves questions at WR, RG, RT, and LT. Assuming Matt Lepsis comes back healthy, Denver still needs the entire right side of an Offensive line.

I guess if I had to find a downside, it's that Travis is a little too fond of the controlled substances. At least Sauerbrun isn't still around to be a bad influence. But seriously- the Fulmer Cup is so named for a reason, and Henry did go to Tennessee, so it will be a concern.

I suppose I get frustrated about the lack of draft building, but the truth is, Denver doesn't draft well anyways, so it probably won't matter much in the long run. If my options include an older, more expensive Travis Henry vs. a brand new and cheap Maurice Clarret, Tatum Bell, Quentin Griffin, or Ahmad Galloway- well, my decision isn't too tough. They'll keep plugging holes in the dike, so to speak with an unending carousel of veterans and salary cap smoke and mirrors.
